Black Market Books general update

posted Aug 20, 2012, 10:07 AM by Bruce Worden
First of all, I have to point out that this month is the 43rd anniversary of Woodstock. Not an auspicious anniversary, but a fitting time to announce Black Market Books' upcoming comic series: Woodstalk: Three Days of Peace, Music, and Zombies. The forgotten story of the 1969 zombie outbreak at Woodstock, told through the intertwined stories of three groups of survivors/zombie hunters – including the band The Zombies.

I'm looking to make the first issue of Woodstalk available in December. Which means that right now I'm chugging away at the artwork, and you can get all kinds of inside scoops and sneak peeks at the Facebook page I already linked to. I am, however, also making it available for preorder up until its release date at a slightly discounted price, y'know, if you're the kind of person who's into scoring sweet deals.

Woodstalk is the most pressing matter at the moment, but there are so many other things in the works as well. I'm in talks with illustrators for The Three Cooperative Little Pigs and The Bus Found UsUp Monkey, Down Monkey is being beta tested for an e-reader app aimed at soldiers overseas so they can record themselves reading stories to their kids back home. And, of course, we sent a copy of A Vagina Is Not... to each of the 64 Republican members of Michigan's House of Representatives after they barred a Democratic Rep from speaking because she said the word "vagina" in June. It's enough to choke a guy up. Or piss him off. Or something. But there's no time! I gotta get back to sketching Woodstalk.

Take care, and keep reading!
